Green thumbs mean many things, including the fact that someone is an avid gardener, semisuccessful finger painter, or actually just a gecko in need of a lift to the next truck stop. Add some color to your opposable digits with today's Groupon: for $25, you get $50 worth of plants and landscaping gear at Laguna Nursery in Laguna Beach.

Laguna Nursery rounds out its selection of nursery-grown plants and outdoor art pieces with accouterments for gardening and landscaping endeavors from more than 45 countries. Art objects channeling 14th-century Asian sculpture and 16th-century Italian statuary wait to enliven garden beds and scare off crop-eating art critics. Staff horticulturists navigate rows of flourishing dahlias, vibrantly pigmented Kangaroo's paw, and fortitudinous succulents ($4–$16/gal.) to gussy up unadorned flower beds. Potting soil ($10) establishes a home for newly purchased flora and tillable land for the elves that inhabit them.

Laguna Nursery

Some people are fated to travel down a particular career path. With a surname that literally means "flowers," horticulturalist Ruben Flores may be one of those people. The Laguna Nursery owner and award-winning landscape designer fills the nursery with flowers, fruit trees, herbs, vegetables, and succulents. He also gathers architectural artifacts, fountains, and sculptures from local and international artists to inspire gardeners to augment their green spaces with artistic accents.

Customer Reviews

It's not a regular nursery like Armstrong Nursery so there weren't a large selection of plants, but it's a unique, quaint location with a lot of gift-type items. On the pricey side, but after all, it is in Laguna Beach... Loved the atmosphere and the different cages of birds throughout. Definitely worth a visit.

We had a nice time and our helpful assistant found us plants that should be hearty enough to survive indoors & dress up our office across the street, at Friendship Shelter. (I had come over with our director & my wonderful Group-on deal.) It's always magical at Laguna Nursery - look down & see beauty everywhere, look up to the rafters & see more! THANK YOU, Ruben Flores and team, for the many ways you give to our community! Kay Ostensen (494-1222)
