What You'll Get
Pilots are the cowboys of the air, roaming the wide-open skies and herding children’s runaway balloons. Giddy up, up, and away with today’s Groupon: for $169, you get a private flight-lesson package from Global Aviation Corp. in East Farmingdale (a $384 total value). The package includes the following items:
- One hour of training on the ground (a $49 value)
- Up to one hour in the air with an instructor, plus, a passenger (a $233 value)
- A logbook signed by the instructor (a $10 value)
- A six-month subscription to Flight Training magazine (a $39 value)
- Landing fees (a $3 value)
- A $50 voucher for use during a subsequent visit<p>
The FAA-certified flight instructors of Global Aviation Corp. impart aeronautical skills to students aged 13 or older in private lessons. From the safety of the ground, instructors demystify the principles of flying, explain flight controls, and demonstrate how to assertively don aviator sunglasses for the student who will be flying. For an hour above ground, student, pilot, and passenger board a Piper Archers, Piper Warriors, or Cessna 172SP plane, steering and checking progress on view screens and instruments. Couples can use the flight to take a daytime date to thrilling heights as one partner gazes out the window and the other shows off burgeoning pitch and yaw skills. Much like breakfast and lunch, ground and flight portions of the lesson may be scheduled to happen on different days of the week. Students can continue training with a $50 voucher for use at their next visit, and stay informed with a six-month subscription to Flight Training magazine. While this deal caters to airborne couples, only one person helms the controls per flight.
