Like cheese and investments in birthday-candle companies, wine only gets better with age. Revel in aged sophistication with today’s Groupon: for $10, you get a wine tasting for two at Ryhan Winery in Livermore (a $20 value).
Ryhan Winery’s elegant tasting room reverberates with the clink of glass on glass, each filled with the burgundy and golden fruits of vintages. Pairs choose from the sizeable collection of wines to fill their flights, sipping three 1-ounce samples apiece and comparing their individual flavors, aromas, and shirt-dying abilities. The 2004 Rouge-Sang blends four of the winery’s reds into a fragrant, crimson potion presenting flavors of berries and black cherry, and the award-winning 2005 malbec complements its base of 100% malbec grapes with hints of black currant and blackberry. Five varieties of sparkling wine fizz into tasting glasses, with flavors including almond, raspberry, peach, and pineapple. Tasters also receive a 20% discount on any additional wine purchases made post-sipping marathon.
