Selections from the DCINY season infuse patrons' cranial canals with a multifarious variety of sweet, piquant, and powerful waves of melody and rhythm. Dulcet coteries of wind instruments from talented Texan, Virginian, Georgian, Floridian, and New Yorkian students charm audiences during "Southern Winds" and "Winds from the South," and aeolian processes from England in "Atlantic Crossing" enchant ears jaded from subway screeching and Woody Allen’s audio book adaptation of the Encyclopedia Brown. Orchestral instruments and choirs combine to enact gripping moments from the "Carmina Burana" cantata, a melodic adaptation of 11th-century Latin poems, and "The Music of Eric Whitacre" pulls from the choral music of the eponymous DCINY guest conductor Eric Whitacre. Bathe in Distinguished Concerts Orchestra and Singers International's prowess during "Body & Soul" or listen to Mozart, Martin, and Todd breach the space-time continuum to exist concurrently in "The Royals Meet the Blues." Honor Memorial Day with "The Spirit of Remembrance" or "Life and Remembrance in Honor of Memorial Day," or connect with half-shell serenity life during "The Wisdom of Old Turtle."

Both Avery Fisher Hall and Alice Tully Hall feature comfortable seating arrangements that further enhance each of DCINY’s carefully curated concerts. Because general-admission tickets apply to any seat in the house, the theater encourages guests to arrive early, rather than covered in gravy, to claim the best available seats.
