Dead Frog Brewery crafts more than two million bottles of light and dark beers each year, including their pepper-lime lager, which earned a gold medal at the 2011 Canadian Brewing Awards. The brewery experience starts with a tour, allowing hops aficionados to play marco polo in Dead Frog’s new facility and watch the creation of freshly brewed beers such as the flavour-blending pepper-lime lager, the seasonal mandarin-orange amber ale, and the nut brown—a dark brew with notes of chocolate and espresso that is often the tragic victim of squirrel theft. After observing the newborn nectars, each tourist gets a treasure trove of Dead Frog swag, including a T-shirt, 12 coasters, and a pint glass.

Dead Frog Brewery

Years ago, Derrick and Donna Smith began brewing a quartet of ales together, the steaming vats of barley filling their small facility with steam. They quickly gained the attention of beer drinkers and critics and expanded into a 10,000-square-foot space. The brewery now includes a renovated tasting room featuring the latest creations on tap, as well as a growler station. There, they invite you to check out new craft brews such as Big Stump: a Golden Spruce Ale, Red Dragon: an Imperial Red Ale, and the Seasonal Citrus Wit. Rotating seasonal suds fill the recognizable frog-emblazoned bottles with beers whose flavors vary with the season. Derrick and Donna offer clients a peek inside their operation with tours and tastings.
