Deception Pass Tours - North Whidbey: $12 for a Deception Pass Jet-Boat Tour from Deception Pass Tours (Up to $25 Value)

Boat tours are a fun way to see the local sights, unlike boarding dolphins equipped with saddles, which usually results in whiplash and water-filled lungs. Cruise the blue in comfort with today's Groupon: for $12, you get a ticket to a Deception Pass boat tour from Deception Pass Tours (up to a $25 value). Children age three and under float for free, so you won't need to leave them at the kennel for the duration of the tour.

During your one-hour tour of Deception Pass, you'll zip along at exhilarating speeds in a jet-drive catamaran with open-deck seating and 360-degree views of the picturesque pass and its surrounding wooded state park. The ship is commanded by Captain Brett, a Coast Guard–certified seaman experienced (grizzled, to use the correct nautical term) in navigating the tricky pass and shuttling groups of sightseers along the watery pass safely. Along the way, you'll learn the stories of the earliest navigators of the waterway, the first female ferry captain, and much more as you take in spectacular views of the rugged cliffs, abundant greenery, and 900-foot arch bridge—all while spotting local wildlife such as bald eagles, eagles with outdated perms, peregrine falcons, seals, porpoises, and the occasional friendly whale in their natural habitat. Lucky seafarers might even get a glimpse of the world's largest Pacific octopus.

Escape the screaming sirens and menacing herds of corgis that pollute the urban streets with an hour of brisk boating through Mother Nature's watery bosom, courtesy of today's Groupon to Deception Pass Tours. Reservations are recommended, so call ahead for availability.

  • I have been multiple times and have seen harbor seals, eagles, even whales. It's a great way to get on the water if you don't have a boat. – whidbeygirl89, TripAdvisor
  • The views of the Deception Pass Bridge and the Olympic Mountains were amazing! I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone! – baby4ta, TripAdvisor

Deception Pass Tours

The tenure of US Coast Guard–certified Captain Brett as captain of the Island Whaler began as a dream. In the course of nine months, he had a recurring dream about an unusual flatbed boat, which replaced his normal dreams about beating up Napoleon with Horatio Hornblower. More than a year after the visions stopped, Brett discovered his fantasy boat sitting in a parking lot in Anacortes. He now owns that boat and pilots the open-topped Island Whaler through picturesque waters to view the multitudinous wildlife found in and around Deception Pass.

The open deck and low-slung cabin of the seafaring sloop grants easy, panoramic views of the steep, rocky landscape. Captain Brett chimes in against the breeze with educational details about the pass's historical significance, structures, and ecology. Throughout the tours, spritely fauna with unevolved senses of stage fright perform lively, natural ballets as visitors potentially lock eyes with bald eagles, seals, porpoises, gray whales, and Pacific Northwest giant squid.
