Went with a group of 12 and had an excellent time! From the service to the food, we could not of had a better experience! We even got a little impromptu comedy show. We will definitely go back and we will continue to tell our friends. Jerk Chicken, side of greens with corn bread tossed in, can't go wrong! I felt like i was in my mom's kitchen, HATS OFF TO THE CHEF!

What You'll Get

The most common way to experience the Deep South is to find a street magician and hope he pulls a shiny Louisiana state quarter from your ear. Dig into soulful southern fare with today's Groupon: for $15, you get two soul food dinner combos at Dee's Place (up to a $31.90 value). Choose from the following dinner combos:

  • One meat, two sides, and jalapeño-cheese cornbread (a $15.95 value)
  • One meat, one side, and jalapeño cheese cornbread (a $13.95 value)

Dee's Place’s menu croons a savory tune of down-home meat-and-vegetable dishes alongside live music performances six nights a week. For the dinner combo’s meat option, diners can opt to savor tender rib tips, crunch crispy fried chicken recently featured on WGN News, or confront a spicily seasoned jerk catfish that keeps claiming to have "lost your number." Then, they’ll select one or two dishes from a marquee of sides—mac 'n' cheese smothers howling appetites in creamy cheese sauce, and greens, potatoes, or red beans and rice add a southern touch to the meal. With either combo option, a serving of jalapeño-cheese cornbread crumbles on tongues, spreading tastes as sweet and spicy as a chocolate sculpture of a pepper shaker.

On Tuesday–Sunday evenings, Dee’s Place tucks blues and jazz musicians into a corner stage to serenade patrons with tight riffs and muddy bass. Soulful sounds bounce against walls papered in vintage Motown concert bills and framed 45s rendered obsolete now that people can fill iPods with MP3s and miniaturized musicians. Dee’s Place is BYOB.
