Delaware County Fair
The Delaware County Agricultural Society was formed in 1833 to foster the area’s agricultural prowess. About a year later, in the fall of 1834, the board’s mission began to materialize when they hosted an exhibition of domestic animals and goods. They appointed judges to award local farmers and citizens with accomplishments such as Best Stud Horse and Best Pair of Woolen Socks. This meeting was the precursor to Delaware County Fair, which strives to pass along many of the same ideas and missions that helped found the society. Each year, hundreds of different exhibitors gather to showcase and share a variety of agricultural talents, products, and ideas. In addition to these informative activities, the fairgrounds are ripe with entertainment, including the annual horse parade, the Little Brown Jug race, and demolition derbies.
