Until skiing and snowboarding were invented, mankind's only hope for winter fun involved hitting candied hams with old Christmas trees. Today's Groupon celebrates wintry invention with a ticket to the Denver Big Air skiing and snowboarding competition, held at the downtown Civic Center Park. Choose between the following options:
For $25, you get one premium viewing general-admission ticket to Denver Big Air's skiing competitions on Tuesday, January 25 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. (a $45 value).
For $25, you get one premium viewing general-admission ticket to Denver Big Air's snowboarding competitions on Wednesday, January 26 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. (a $45 value).
The internationally acclaimed Big Air event makes its inaugural American appearance in Denver with two evenings of competition that pair a roster of global champs with a tremendous 300-foot-long jump. Tuesday, January 25 opens with the Nature Valley Big Air Challenge, pitting famed male freestyle skiers against one another to perform their best air-defying tricks while simultaneously slicing potatoes into miniature busts of Shaun White. Afterward, ski fans can cheer on the winners at the awards ceremony (8:15 p.m.), before being treated to a concert by Grammy-nominated rockers Switchfoot.
January 26 welcomes wintry spectators to the first-ever United States–hosted LG FIS Snowboard Big Air World Cup, a snowboarding spectacular that assembles the world's top male snowboarders to perform gravity-offending tricks. Competitors will launch themselves from the 101-foot-high ramp for a chance to earn World Cup ranking points, as well as a share of a prize purse that may or may not match their parka. Colorado's One Republic will perform between the qualification and finalist practice rounds (7:40 p.m.), with the awards ceremony closing the event at 10 p.m.
Premium general admission viewing takes place on Bannock Street and is all standing. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. on both evenings.
