Acclimatizing, an essential precaution while climbing at altitude, allows the blood to respond to a lower density of oxygen and the eyes to realize they aren't inside a screensaver. Blow your mind's computer with today's Groupon to Denver Mountain Guiding. Choose between the following options:

  • For $60, you get an eight-hour Climb the Flat Irons tour (with four to five hours of climbing) (a $130 value).
  • For $69, you get the six-hour Rock Climbing Basics course (a $150 value).

Denver Mountain Guiding leads rock scalers of all skill levels on hikes and climbs through some of Colorado's most beautiful terrain. Canyon clamberers of all calibers can entrust skilled guides—each with more than 10 years of mountaineering experience and hands as calloused as Ty Cobb's heart—on the eight-hour Climb the Flat Irons tour, which boasts beginner and intermediate terrain, covers 1,000 feet of sandstone, and offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape and the forward climber's rear end. Fledgling scramblers can sign up for the Rock Climbing Basics course to learn fundamentals such as knot tying, rope care, safety, and setting up a top rope. Denver Mountain Guiding provides lunch on all trips and transportation to and from base camp if necessary. Call ahead or email Denver Mountain Guiding to schedule your climb.

Denver Mountain Guiding

A seemingly insurmountable fin of sandstone protrudes 300 feet in the air, challenging all humans to dare conquer its peak. As groups look on in awe of this natural wonder, a Denver Mountain Guiding guide suits up and begins the ascent, leading students of all levels on a thrilling and challenging climb.

Denver Mountain Guiding’s coterie of guides— all which receive training and certifications through the American Mountain Guides Association—are a motley mix, encompassing passionate climbers with decades of experience, expert weekend warriors, wilderness first responders, and first-aid- and CPR-certified guides. They lead beginners through elite-level climbers on recreational trips around local rock-climbing hot spots such as Clear Creek Canyon. Outings include full-day and half-day climbs of varying levels of difficulty, as well as lessons and camps that teach basics such as rope safety, knots, belaying, rappelling, and anchors.
