Even if you're not a diehard classical-music fan, you're probably familiar with the three symphonies featured at this concert, since they've each been heard in movies and on TV a time or 200. But there's nothing like experiencing these world-famous works in all their glory in a true concert setting, performed by a great orchestra like the Denver Philharmonic at Central Presbyterian Church. Lawrence Golan conducts Smash Hits!, which kicks off with the turbulent emotion of Mozart's Symphony No. 40, and features guest pianist Steven Lin, who'll get a chance to shine on Rachmaninoff's notoriously challenging Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. The show builds to a rousing finale with Stravinsky's landmark The Firebird Suite, from the famous ballet, and as heard in Disney's Fantasia 2000. Come early for a pre-concert chat and stick around after the performance for a relaxed reception.
The concert is set to run 90 minutes, including intermission.
