About Desert Adventures
Mary and Charlie Dungans sought a source of entertainment in Palm Springs beyond golf and tennis. To find it, they traveled beyond the city limits and into the surrounding deserts. There, they discovered a fascinating world of geological formations and wildlife inspiring them to found Desert Adventures in an effort to share this experience with others.
The couple only had three jeeps to their name when they opened their doors in 1987, but their sustainable nature tours proved popular. Today, their daughter Kimberly, her business partner Bob Schneider, and a crew of naturalist guides offer tours of an 840-acre private ranch and the unowned expanses of Mecca Hills. The equipment, too, has evolved with the times; the company's fleet includes 15 customized Jeep Scramblers capable of handling the desert pathways without disturbing the environment.
