About Desert Rock Winery and Tasting Room
Paul J. Hoffman's decades of winemaking experience earned him a stint as the president of the prestigious Sonoma Valley Vintners & Growers Alliance. But it's his work as the founder, winemaker, and distiller of Desert Rock Industries that earns the top spot on his impressive résumé. In 2015, the company moved its winemaking operations to Scottsdale, a decision that gave birth to Desert Rock Winery and Tasting Room.
The winery features 40 barrels with 10 types of wines, bottling and labeling everything right on site. Hoffman and his crew are happy to share information on the winemaking process, but guests can also sample the wares for themselves at the tasting room, where live music and private events take place from time to time. Here, glasses runneth over with vino from the onsite winery and other brands under the Dessert Rock umbrella, such as 401K, whose chardonnay features citrus and vanilla notes with a low oak influence, and The Head Tilt, whose proceeds benefit animal charity and rescue organizations.
