Q:

in the Sedona trip; How much time is spent in Sedona (outside of the plane)?

Richard D.  asked on  Jul 18, 2012

A:

Thank you for your question! The focus of the Sedona flight is more about the actual flight, both to and from. The time spent on the ground is usually about an hour, give or take, which is usually plenty of time to enjoy a light meal (which we provide), stretch your legs, check out the scenic lookout area, and take a few photos. A really popular add-on for that flight would be the half-day trip option, which allows for up to five hours in town, with chauffeured transportation, to enjoy your choice of activities such as shopping, sightseeing, dining, and/or outdoor activities. We are more than happy to further discuss this option with you when you contact us to make your reservation!

Q:

I have a friend who is a photographer coming in over Labor Day Weekend. I'm considering buying this package for her. Do the passengers have sufficient viewpoints for photography? Do the windows prevent decent photos from being taken?

Sue W.  asked on  Jul 16, 2012

A:

Hi Sue, great question! The aircraft we typically fly is a Cessna 172, which is great for aerial photography. The slow cruising speed, large windows, and high wings make for great photo-taking opportunities. Additionally, your friend would be more than welcome to sit in the front co-captain seat for greater visibility and optimal camera angle choices. You can view some of the aerial photos from our flights on our website under the tab that says "photo gallery". Of course, all of these were taken by amateurs with basic cameras. So I would imagine the possibilities for someone like your friend would be pretty amazing!

Q:

What is the upcharge for the big night out? Thanks! Petra

Petra S.  asked on  Jul 15, 2012

A:

The value of the sunset flight package is 320 and the value of the big night out package is 545, so we would apply the total value of the sunset flight to the big night out. Having said that we are looking at an additional $225.00 to add transportation for the evening and dinner for two. Gratuities are not included, and a trip charge could occur depending on where your pick-up/drop-off location is. Hope that helps!

Q:

we are 3 adults and a 2 year kid... how much would it cost for the airplane ride over Sedona?

mahendra  asked on  Jul 15, 2012

A:

Hi Mahendra! The cost for an extra adult passenger would be $50. There would be no cost for the 2 year-old. However, FAA guidelines state that children 2 and above need a restraint system (car seat). Unfortunately, the aircraft we currently utilize will not accommodate 3 adults as well as a 2 year-old in a car seat. If you should decide to make the trip with just two adults and the child or only the three adults that would work just fine. We would, however, need to have weight information for all passengers in order to ensure we are in adherence with our passenger weight restrictions. You may want to verify this with us prior to purchasing. Thanks!

Q:

what type of aircraft ? how experienced are the pilots ? ( actual flight hours logged) thanks Elaine

Elaine F.  asked on  Jul 14, 2012

A:

Sorry I pressed the wrong button on your previous question. An answer to your question about 11 years at 450 HRs. You are correct if you average that over an 11 year span however, since opening the business a year ago and with over 200 tours given with out one incident we continue to take every precaution to give an amazing and safe flight experience. Desert Sky Tours West follows every FAA guide line and we take every chance to furture education. Our pilot also teaches on his days off as well as volitarying with local school and organizations to bring aviation to young people around our community. Good question and thank you for asking.
