What You'll Get
Before the Internet, the only way shoppers could get around international tariffs was to erase the borders from all of the world's atlases. Bridge global divides with today’s Groupon to Detroit Mailbox in Detroit. Choose between the following options:
- For $25, you get a 10-parcel pickup card (a $50 value).
- For $49, you get a 20-parcel pickup card (a $100 value).
Detroit Mailbox grants Canadian citizens their own working American mailing address, breaking down trade barriers by allowing them to shop online with U.S. businesses while bypassing hefty international shipping costs and brokerage fees. Since many online merchants in the U.S. do not ship to Canada, the package pickup service lets Canadians buy goods from U.S. auction sites, classifieds, or peer-to-peer peddlers without having to put down payments on a home in Michigan or to teach the mailbox to recite a foreign oath of citizenship. After filling up their fibre-optic shopping carts at an online store, customers enter in Detroit Mailbox’s address at checkout and notify the service of their package’s impending arrival. Once packages arrive at the Detroit office’s doorstop, parcel-sitters notify clients through email that their box-clad cargo waits to be picked up and emigrated to its newfound homeland.
Once delivered, each shipment is protected by the centre's steadfast insurance policy until customers have their package in their hands. Items can be kept on hold for up to 30 days with a $6.95 surcharge per day afterward. Parcel fetchers are responsible for transporting their goods across the U.S./Canada border, which may require paying duties or taxes. Packages requiring special handling, including dangerous, flammable, refrigerated, or transdimensional shipments won't be accepted. See the FAQ for more details.
