Rudolph DeVries had a goal: introduce his fellow Detroit residents to the best eggs, butter, and cheese he could find. He also had a solution: to open a shop where locals could stock up on the fresh dairy items. More than a century later, Devries & Company 1887 remains a go-to destination for Detroiters on the lookout for artisan cheeses, deli meats, and specialty candies. And it's remained in the family, with Rudolph's grandson helming the business that was passed down from his own father.
