Each course fee includes rental rods and equipment, but students will also need a freshwater-fishing license and may require rubber boots and waders, which they can rent from Dickson Flyfishing for an additional $5. Classes are held on one of several lakes in the area, including Lake Tyee, Lake Riley, and Twin Ponds.

Dickson Flyfishing

A father-son team, Dickson Flyfishing guides and teaches fly-fishing to all levels of anglers on Olympic Peninsula waters, Puget Sound rivers, and many eastern Washington rivers. Conscious of their environmental impact, they lead eco-rafting trips throughout the year on the Skagit, Sauk, and Queets Rivers, as well as fishing trips for steelhead, cutthroat trout, and salmon with scales made of gold. More adventurous clients can embark on winter fly-fishing trips for tarpon on the flats of the Caribbean or three-day campouts on the Grande Ronde River. Additionally, scenic rafting tours bring visitors up close to wildlife such as eagles. Dickson Flyfishing also runs a virtual fly shop, where they sell their own line of equipment.

Mike was a great instructor. I had come into this class with a small amount of experience and knowledge with my spey casting. He was able to teach me the double spey, help my snap T, and also offer knowledge related to fly fishing in general. I would suggest just a bit more time on the water working actual casts, but overall a great course.

Purchased this as a gift for my boyfriend & it completely sparked his interest in fly fishing! I don't think he ever would have tried it without this class, even though he had all the gear ;)
