Die-Nasty rivals some of television’s most popular soap operas for longevity—but, unlike them, it changes locations and characters each season. More importantly, its episodes aren’t scripted. Instead, its close-knit troupe of performers and shapeshifters improvises outrageous new plot twists live on stage. They’ve been doing this for more than 20 seasons, conjuring up steamy hospitals and biker clubs and racking up Canadian Comedy Award nominations along the way, scoring a win as Best Improv Troupe in 2006.
This time around, the action covers the same ground as Downton Abbey and Upstairs, Downstairs. The cast of regulars and occasional special guests from around the world takes on the roles of Percival Pepys-Cardigan, Earl of Clopshire, and the many family members and household staff that surround and perplex him.
