The Deal

Following a thirty-minute explanation and discussion, students will embark on a live shoot session a short walk from the studio, granting them the chance to practice in the field, alongside a DPA instructor who will be there to guide them every step of the way. In the area, they will have access to Belle Isle Marsh Reservation, charming old world architecture on Breed Street, and even a view of the Boston skyline to practice their photography. Students then return to the studio for three more hours and learn to post their images on laptops or other devices.

Upon their return to the classroom, the instructor will also help students modify their images to their liking using their complimentary thirty-day photo sharing software. Finally, the instructors will offer a thorough critique of the students’ work, and students even have the option to e-mail two more photographs for additional critiques in the following three weeks.

This package also includes a one-month subscription for photo-sharing software, and instructions on how to make the best use of it. Participants should bring their own digital cameras and equipment.

Digital Photo Academy

As memory cards replaced film reels, many photographers—both professional and amateur—felt befuddled by the new technology. That's where Digital Photo Academy stepped in. Since 2007, the business has facilitated workshops that explore all aspects of digital imagery, from operating cameras and uploading digital files to editing images and airbrushing realistic mustaches. Seasoned professionals lead the courses, helping understudies hone their use of light, framing, and timing. Students furnish their own cameras, and can tote along any ancillary equipment such as tripods, laptops, and flashes that relate to the course at hand.
