Somewhere far below sea level, the most fashionable critters in the subsurface world are gracefully strutting their stuff in form-fitting wetsuits with foot-flattering flippers. Grace the coveted underwater runways of exploration with today’s Groupon: for $124, you get a scuba-certification package from Dip ‘N Dive (a $249 value). The package includes:
- All certification, instructional, pool fees, and scuba-diving certification card
- Two days of open-water training with instructor
- Use of textbooks, tanks, buoyancy-compensator jackets, regulators with octopus, gauges, and mouthpieces for pool sessions<p> Certification courses will be held at the Tonawanda Aquatic and Fitness Center in Buffalo and the Southtowns Family YMCA in Buffalo.
NAUI- and PADI-certified teachers at Dip ‘N Dive help students to navigate open-water scuba certification with 3–6 weeks of classroom, tank, and open-water instruction. Budding divers learn the ins and outs of equipment, diving science, problem solving, and mermaid diplomacy in the academic portion of the training, with the help of group lectures or a student-purchased and instructor-supported home-study kit. Once stuffed to the top of one’s wet suit with knowledge, students move on to pool sessions, where, flipper-clad, they become familiar with their equipment and practice submerged problem solving under the instructor’s watchful gaze. After acclimating to underwater weightlessness and breathing techniques, open-water sessions test the newly gleaned skills of scuba students, allowing divers to gain their certification to swim the seven seas or drive underwater minivans.
All instructional, certification, and pool fees are included, as is the use of tanks, Regulators, and Buoyancy Compensators for pool sessions. Students are required to provide a swimsuit, towel, and writing apparatus. Before the second class, divers will need to provide a scuba diving-quality mask, a pair of diving open-heel fins, wetsuit boots, and weight belt along with weights. This scuba-quality equipment is not required for the first class. Instructors will cover equipment needs in detail during the first class, doling out discount coupons for new students to stock their underwater wardrobes.
Additional fee may apply for rental equipment for your open water dives.

Since 1976, the instructors and staff of Dip 'N Dive have demystified the magic of breathing underwater. They instruct and outfit both scuba divers and snorkelers at their Buffalo location, and the facility's curriculum of PADI and NAUI courses help budding divers stay safe, maintain control of their equipment, and walk like Naomi Campbell while wearing fins. From beginning diving lessons to advanced instructor training, courses include classroom work, pool exercises, and real open-water-diving trips.
