Learning about science in a museum is safer than experiencing it firsthand by accidentally ingesting a science textbook. Embrace science with today's Groupon: for $12, you get a family day pass to the Discovery Center of Idaho (a $25 value).
A nonprofit organization designed to inspire lifelong interest and learning in science, technology, engineering, and math, the Discovery Center houses more than 150 interactive exhibits that engage children of all ages, shapes, and moonboot sizes. Popular exhibits include the air-brake chair, where visitors use pulleys to lift themselves off the ground, then slow their descent through air resistance from flywheel wings. At the bubble wall, children blow gigantic bubbles and learn how to stick their hands through soapy walls without breaking them or getting sucked into adjacent parallel universes. Children and adults can see firsthand how it's possible to rest on a bed of nails without pain, and the younger ones (ages 5 and under) can explore the discovery market, a shopping-market simulation. The family pass is good for up to six people in a family. See the website for hours and exhibit information.
