I love escape rooms and escape rooms games. I was under the impression that this was a monthly escape room game subscription, where each month was it's own mystery. It's not. It is a 'spread out' mystery that takes several months to get all of the pieces. I actually didn't like it that much. The production was pretty well done, but the mystery want engaging. This was partially because it was so spread out. I found it frustrating to have to wait for more information, and then try to remember a month ago (or two or three months the ago), what I had already figured out that was applicable to the newest box. It wasn't my favorite. I stuck it out and finished the mystery, but I didn't love it. I think a different service would be a better fit for me.
The first clue was really difficult, which kind of made us discouraged to even continue. We looked online for clues, which did help but it made us feel pressed for time to get the two boxes done before the subscription renewed. Also, it's not possible to cancel the subscription on the mobile website, you need to go on the desktop site to see the cancel button.
This has been a great date night activity for my fiancé and I! The item alone is kind of pricey, but thankfully Groupon makes is so much cheaper!
My fiancé was skeptical about it at first. He thought it was a weird box filled with miscellaneous items, until he realized the intricacy of the process and how it utilizes basic household technology and social media to control the game.
Our biggest complaint is that we started playing the version called "I Spy." When we received the third box it was missing two very important items to help solve that portion of the mystery. We reached out to Dispatch by Breakout regarding our missing items but no one will contact us back.
