What You'll Get
Brave and compelling new musical The Boy Who Danced on Air reveals the depths of a clandestine yet persistent tradition in Afghanistan. In this world premiere musical coming to Diversionary Theatre in San Diego, you'll learn about Bacha Bazi, a practice in which wealthy men purchase boys from poor families, train them as dancers and parade them at parties as their property. Created by award-winning theatrical duo Rosser & Stone, The Boy Who Danced on Air follows Paiman and Feda, who've spent their young lives confined within this tradition. When the boys meet by chance and develop feelings for one another, they embark on a journey towards a new life in uncharted territory. This astonishing contemporary fable reveals a country teetering on collapse and shines a light on the indomitable strength of the human spirit.
This production is not appropriate for children.
