Northern Italian coffee has been the drink of choice for Northern Italians since the country split down the middle and formed the world's largest perpetual game of Capture the Flag. For $7, today's Groupon gets you $15 worth of coffee drinks and meals at Dolce and Salato. This Groupon is good at two locations, in Presidio Heights and at the Trinity building on Market Street, where an effervescent intoxication of robust brews and savory edibles wafts out of the front door.
Both of Dolce and Salato's locations host fancifully relaxed settings, with white marble countertops reflecting decorated walls and gold-colored chandeliers. Dolce and Salato uses the ingredients of local vendors to fill out a menu of palate pleasers. Presidio Heights' coffees come hot or cold with French press blends ($1.60 for a 12 oz.), café au lait ($2.60), cappuccino and latte ($2.85), mocha ($3), and more. An alert mouth can appreciate the subtle crumbles of a freshly baked cranberry-walnut scone ($1.75) or a morning bagel with eggs, cheese, tomatoes, and bacon ($5.50). Later-day appetites can be quashed by the eggplant and pesto paninis with roasted red bell peppers ($8.75), daily rotating soups, and salads such as the arugula with shaved parmesan and fennel beneath a lemon vinaigrette ($7.45).
Lonely half-full coffee cups love the arrival of chocolate-covered biscotti ($1.95). However, should your biscotti chamber, located in somewhere in the human stomach, already be stuffed, customers are welcome to put their remaining balance on a gift card useful for future coffee sojourns or jimmying open a sticky door.

About Dolce and Salato
Dolce & Salato’s chefs strike a delicate balance between Italian charm and Californian sustainability, drawing from a palette of in-season ingredients culled from local vendors to orchestrate a menu inspired by the entrenched culinary traditions of Northern Italy. The café proves ideal for a quick cappuccino break, a leisurely breakfast, or a lunch paired with a glass of Italian beer or wine. Flowerboxes and sidewalk tables situate patrons in prime people-watching positions at the Presidio Heights location, which also hosts a wood-paneled dining area bathed in light that radiates from garden windows and the friendly wait staff’s smiles.
