About The Don Strange Ranch

The low-hanging branches of southern live oak trees stretch out over the house and pavilion areas at Don Strange Ranch, dappling parties, weddings, and corporate team gatherings with splashes of sunlight. Since 1952, the 125-acre longhorn ranch in the Texas Hill Country has hosted myriad events, including scenes from the PBS music documentary series Live from the Artists Den and the wedding of country music stars Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton.

More than just a picturesque backdrop, the ranch’s rugged natural surroundings host outdoor activities such as ropes courses and kayak trips down the Guadalupe River. And the friendly staffers who man 350- to 400-foot ziplines work to ease guests out of their comfort zones, like a mother bird pushing her young out of the nest for their first extreme base-jumping lesson.

This was such a fun experience. The two guys that kept us from falling off the obstacle and headed our zipline were great. They were friendly and very knowledgeable. They made you feel safe. If you get the burger lunch, you will not be disappointed with the burgers. They are thick, juicy, and cooked on the grill. Would definitely do it again.

Our Groupon had expired and they still honored it. The staff was very hospitable, patient, and helpful. We will not rush through the obstacles, but allowed to take our time and enjoy ourselves. I would recommend this activity at this location to anyone.

We visited last weekend and did the 50' Tower ropes course and the Zipline. It was awesome. My kids chickened out and only climbed the tower to the first level but I made it to the top. It was an absolutely beautiful view and a great feeling of accomplishment when done with the climb. The Zipline was fun too. We even got a visit by the longhorns and saw a baby longhorn which was neat. Definitely recommend if you and your family are up for a challenge and adventure.
