Besides Beyonce and Jay Z, America doesn't have any royalty. So the creators of Love's Labour's Lost, a musical comedy adaptation of Shakespeare's play, decided to set the action at a five-year college reunion and transform the princes and princesses into Ivy League grads who are veering between adulthood and party mode. While at the reunion, a man and his college buddies take an oath to spend the next three years studying, self-improving and removing themselves from worldly temptations -- most especially women. But when four girls from the guys' past re-emerge, all bets are off. With its head-bobbing pop tunes and current-day setting, Love's Labour's Lost was hailed as a "gleeful riff" and a "tall, fruity drink of intoxicating delight" by Time Out New York. The party gets started at Hayward's Douglas Morrisson Theatre.
