Q:

Tried to phone your number and your mailbox is full. Would like to inquire on the cost for 15 days July 10th - July 25th, what the total cost would be using a Groupon. Thanks

Dorinda S.  asked on  Jun 10, 2012

A:

First, please let me apologize for my voice mail...our response has been overwhelming and I have received over 200 phone calls in the last two days, and they are still coming! I am not complaining, only asking forgiveness as I am so far behind in returning calls. Please feel free to try again. In the meantime, to address your question, Our regular rate for two weeks (we will throw in a free day and make it an even 2 weeks) would be $320.00. With your groupon, you will only need to pay for 11 days, and in the spirit of Groupon and welcoming you as a new customer, I will discount our rate so that it compares to the Groupon rate...with your Groupon, the additional charge will only be $185.00. Please keep in mind that we are a very social setting and dogs MUST be friendly. We require a temperament evaluation, which is covered entirely with your Groupon, and we advise travelers to schedule this in advance to avoid any issues at your time of travel.

Q:

I got a little bit confused as to when is the expiration date for the groupon for the 3 day 2 night stay. Is it until 14th of November or I have to use it within one month of purchase? Also is there any additional fees to the groupon? I had left my doggie with a different dog care facility and they made me purchase a bath for her before we took her home? Your facility looks great by the way

Lidiya A.  asked on  Jun 9, 2012

A:

Hi Lidiya. It is my understanding that you have until November 14, 2012 to use the Groupon deals. There are no additional fees- unlike many of our competitors we do not assess charges for things such as feeding, brushing, late night potty breaks, or extra treats or affection- we feel that is the very nature of caring for a dog and therefore what you are paying for when you drop your dog off for day care or boarding. We even include a bath, at no charge, for all dogs boarding a week or more. The only exception would be as it pertains to our flea policy. We require that ALL dogs on site for any reason be on a flea/tick preventative. If your dog is found to have fleas we will notify you and give you the option of picking up your pet immediately, or authorizing us to give your pet a flea bath, at your expense.

Q:

I am going away Sunday, July 8th and returning Tuesday, July 10th. Would I need to purchase the two night stay for $37? Can I pick up my dog by 11pm on July 10th? Carol G.

Carol G.  asked on  Jun 9, 2012

A:

Yes, you would need the two night stay. And as long as you remind us when you are dropping off, there should be no problem with the late pick up. Prior to your departure we will need to do a temperment evaluation, the cost is entirely covered by your Groupon, so that we can make sure our very social setting is right for your pet. Groupon has agreed to full refunds if for some reason your fur-baby is not quite ready.

Q:

My neighbor told me that when she boarded her dogs there, one of them contracted kennel cough, because the overnight dogs are exposed to the day care dogs. Is this true, and have policies changed? She told me that the problem was that after doggie day care customers are evaluated the first time, there is no tracking on whether they're current on shots. Otherwise, she said that it was a great facility, and she was satisfied with the compensation for the kennel cough incident.

Linda S.  asked on  Jun 8, 2012

A:

Hi Linda! I am sorry about your friends unfortunate experience, but I can assure you it did NOT happen at Downtown Doggie Center! We have NEVER had any infection, virus or medical condition among our dogs! Part of the reason for this is our stringent requirements regarding vaccinations...prior to ANY service, including evaluations. The other part is our obsessive cleaning and disinfecting. We are proud of reputation and history of being nearly sterile, and work hard to maintain it. Day care dogs and boarding dogs do interact, every single day, and ALL are current on their vaccinations, before they are allowed on site for any reason.

Q:

How much would it be for 10 days? - Ken, St. Pete

Kenneth M.  asked on  Jun 8, 2012

A:

For a 10 day stay I would honor the Groupon for the first three days, and then charge our competetive weekly rate of $160.00.

Q:

Hi, We will be going away the weekend of June 23rd (leaving Friday the 22nd and coming home late on Sunday the 24th). The Groupon states that we may buy 1 and use 2 more as gifts, and only 1 use per visit. Is the 1 use per visit per dog, or would we be able to use one for each dog? Also, If we bought the weekend package, would we be able to use that and add on another night (Sunday night) at the regular one night rate?

Jonathan A.  asked on  Jun 8, 2012

A:

Hi Kenneth! Thank you for your interest in our Center. I, too, am a bit confused by this Groupon rule as it applies to multiple dogs...and I do not want to break any of the rules. We ordinarily offer a 40% discount to the second dog in any family, but obviously our Groupon rate trumps that, so I will extend my discount for the second dog to be equal that of the Groupon. As far as adding a day to the weekend, yes, that is perfectly acceptable, and of course a discount would be given for the second dog for that as well. If I can provide anything additional, please do not hesitate to call. 727-851-8400 Tonja

Q:

We have 2 dogs and would want them to stay longer - 6 to 8 nights. Can we use this deal for discounts off the normal rate? We'd like to know that and if what we'd need to purchase.

Janet W.  asked on  Jun 8, 2012

A:

Hi Janet! I cannot change the rules for Groupon, which specify that it is just one offer per person, however, our normal policy is to offer the second dog of the same household a generous 40% off our regular rates. Because the Groupon rate is even better, I will extend that discount to cover your second dog, for the first three days of their stay. The second 3-5 nights I will also be happy to work with you regarding the charges, please call me so we can discuss your needs. 727-851-8400 Tonja

Q:

Is your facility air conditioned?

Lauren L.  asked on  Jun 8, 2012

A:

We have two buildings, one is air conditioned, the other is not. The un-air conditioned building has incredible ventilation with three large 12 x 12 bay doors (garage door type) and commercial exhaust fans, we have yet to reach above 84 degrees in here. We are aware of the dangers that heat brings to some of our breeds, and pay especial attention to these dogs during warmer weather, offering many opportunities to play in the A/C area, or enjoy the cooling benefits of our covered pool area.
