Rain or shine drop in sessions are available on the following dates.
Dragon Boat BC & Dragon Zone Paddling Club floats participants through Canada’s multicultural heritage with dragon-boat races, training programs, and an annual Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat Festival. Captained by certified coaches, 90-minute introductory classes equip pupils with paddles for a chance to discover the ancient basics of dragon-boat paddling and impress cheerleading sea nymphs. Teams of 20 paddlers, a steersperson, a team manager, and up to four spare paddlers pilot their way along aquatic surfaces in a vessel from Dragon Boat BC & Dragon Zone Paddling Club’s extensive fleet, synchronizing their movement to the steady beats of an on-board drummer. Though swimming ability is not required, each visitor must wear a life jacket and be able emit safety screeches only audible to trained rescue dolphins throughout the duration of the session.

About Dragon Zone Paddling Club
Operated by the Canadian International Dragon Boat Festival Society, a registered non-profit society, Dragon Zone Paddling Club makes it easy for people to experience the ancient art of dragon boating, as well as many other types of paddle sports. In addition to 10- and 20-person dragon boats, the club equips guests with canoes, six-person outriggers, one-person outriggers, and kayaks.
For those who are new to dragon boating, Dragon Zone Paddling Club offers four-week classes that introduce basic techniques and get participants used to working as a team. More specialized workshops supplement foundational skills with more advanced instruction, which is especially useful for anyone who decides to join a racing team.
