After long days reading DVDs and correcting eyesight, lasers enjoy converging inside planetarium domes to blow off steam with refractive promenades. The Drake Planetarium and Science Center's scintillating shows and informative exhibits employ the power of futuristic science to entertain and enlighten. The summer Laser Show Series combines classical-style 2-D animation, 3-D images, and abstract geometric shapes, emulating the experience of reading a cubist pop-up book. Legends of the Night Sky tells the mythological tales of the constellations Orion, Perseus, and Andromeda with an eye for comedy and history. The show ends with a guided tour of the night sky, pointing out where the stars and constellations can be found: overhead. A wide variety of music shows also run throughout the summer, with dazzling light displays synced up with the tunes of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, U2, Metallica, and other classic bands.
