What You'll Get
If your commute from work is consumed with anxiety over what dinner you can make with the dry lentils, block of cream cheese, and sack of sprouting potatoes left over from Thanksgiving, today's Groupon is for you. Don't bother swerving into the drive-through or taking the family out to an expensive restaurant. For $50, today's Groupon gets you $110 worth of easy-to-assemble, healthy meals from Dream Dinners. This deal does not cover items in the Fast Lane and Made for You menu.
Your Groupon could get you around six dinners for two or three people, or three dinners for a family of four to six. You don't even have to tell the family you didn't devise these brilliant creations on the spot. With easy-to-follow instructions and pre-cut ingredients, preparation is a breeze. A dearth of complementary ingredients will never stymie your dinner again.
The Dream Dinners experience is like a cross between a barn raising and a bar crawl, minus the alcohol and hard labor. After choosing from a rotating menu of up to 17 dishes per month, schedule a spot at one of Dream Dinners' fun and easy preparation sessions (call at least a week in advance of your session). For most dishes, you can choose to prepare six- or three-serving portions (all listed prices are for six portions). Items from the April menu include creamy chicken risotto ($31), sweet-and-sour marinated pork chops ($23), and Canadian-bacon stuffed French bread ($26). Dazzle your dining-room table with fancy restaurant fare, or serve up casual and comfort foods full of flavor, such as beef pasta Bolognese ($34.49) and southern biscuits with cinnamon and honey butter ($8).
During the sessions, many have been known to dance between food stations, following easy instructions as they bag, season, and all but cook their families' meals for the month. After your session, take the uncooked meals home to your freezer and prepare them nightly for no-thought-required, delicious meals that'll keep you healthy, full, and free to think about times tables and monkey rentals on your daily commute. The succulent menu items will fool even the most fastidious foodies into thinking you slaved over the stove to prepare such deliciously complex dishes.
Eating out wastes money and piles on unnecessary fat and calories, but with Dream Dinners, eating healthy actually saves you money. Check out Dream Dinners' website to view the current menus and sessions available at the convenient Greenway location. Sessions are typically offered in the afternoons and evenings on Thursday through Friday, in addition to mid-mornings on Saturday.
Though Dream Dinners usually requires a minimum order of 36 servings, that requirement is waived for Groupon customers.
The blogosphere is abuzz about Dream Dinners franchises around the nation, with positive reviews popping up on About.com, SassyScoops, and No Fuss Fabulous. The business has also been featured on the Food Network.
- Dream Dinners allows me to prepare foods with items that I really don't have in my kitchen, or I'd have to buy specifically for a recipe, like prunes, Sauterne wine, capers, baby corn, pesto, etc. – Judy Hedding, About.com
- Throughout the past four weeks, my little family and I have gone through the rest of our Dream Dinner meals. Some of them I have loved, others weren’t necessarily my favorite, but overall the convenience of the meals have been unbeatable, especially for a new mom. – loralee, No Fuss Fabulous
- I love the idea of assembling meals ahead of time, the instructions were so simple, and then having the meals in my freezer? It was incredible. – Carina, SassyScoops

About Dream Dinners
As a working mother, Stephanie Allen was constantly racing against the clock. One timesaving endeavor she quickly mastered was preparing meals ahead of time from raw, fresh ingredients and popping them in the freezer for a later date. Stephanie eventually amassed a book of recipes and began sharing her culinary secrets with friends. With the help of Tina Kuna's business savvy, Stephanie's personal practice burgeoned into a nationwide phenomenon known as Dream Dinners.
Today at shops across the country, busy matriarchs and patriarchs shuffle around meal stations, each stocked with recipe cards, ingredients, and scratch-and-sniff tinfoil to construct meals that serve three or six. They tick off recipe components as they add the proper amount to meal containers, ferrying the uncooked dishes home and tucking them into freezers. Then, throughout the week, they simply thaw, heat, and serve these dinners to eagerly waiting eaters.
Though Dream Dinners does not cater to specific diets, the company does offer nutritious meals with antibiotic- and hormone-free chicken. Customers can survey all nutritional information before selecting dishes.
