The reclusive J.D. Salinger was one of America's most celebrated authors, acclaimed for his dozens of short stories and his seminal novel The Catcher in the Rye. The hard-drinking Charles Bukowski was similarly lauded for his hundreds of short stories and six novels about working-class people, including Ham on Rye. In The Catcher In The Rye VS Ham on Rye at Haymarket Pub & Brewery, two teams of local writers and performers will pick a novel and go head-to-head, performing original scenes, songs, monologues, dance numbers or anything else inspired by their chosen work of literature. Over the course of six rounds, both teams battle it out to determine which novel wins.
