What You'll Get
When Eisenhower designed the Interstate Highway System, he envisioned a lawless, death-race arena where only the fastest could avoid being killed by mechanical gulls. Experience a thrilling fraction of his racing dream with today's Groupon to Drivetech Racing School at the New Smyrna Speedway (NSS). Drivetech will be at NSS May 27–28 and June 4 and 6. Choose between the following options:
- For $139, you get a basic instruction and a 15-lap racing experience (a $299 value).
- For $29, you get a four-lap ride along with a professional driver (a $59 value).
Drivetech's pro drivers combine pure speed and NASCAR authenticity to guarantee a healthy flood of adrenaline in every driver and passenger they guide around the track. The 15-lap Shootout! driving package begins with a one-hour driver's meeting, during which rubber roasters take a narrated van ride around the track to learn the racing line and track features. During a classroom session, students practice driving techniques, safety procedures, and the proper delivery of vroom-vroom noises. Prospective pavement pilots are then led to their gleaming roadsters, where a crew member buckles them in, checks their radio, and gives the go-ahead to start their V8 engine and pull out on the track.
Drivetech's short-track ride alongs let speed fiends ride shotgun for four laps' worth of wind-whipping anarchy at speeds exceeding 125 mph. All packages include drill and practice laps to let you ease into your first foray into g-force frenzy, and drivers have their choice of either a NASCAR Sprint Cup–style car, or diesel-powered V12 Vespa.
