What You'll Get
Gas-powered cars will soon be replaced by electric cars, which will be replaced by two-person motorcycles powered by nightmares. Experience some combustion-engine action while you can with today's Groupon: for $139, you get a 15-lap stock-car-racing experience from DriveTech Racing School at the Stockton 99 Speedway (a $299 value). DriveTech will be at Stockton April 30, May 1, July 29 through 31, September 24 and 25, and November 5 and 6. Check the schedule for the most up-to-date information.
Through Drivetech's 15-lap Shootout! package, adrenaline addicts receive one hour of classroom instruction on how to handle a NASCAR-style racecar, safety procedures, and a narrated van ride around the track. After making the way to a speedy steel pony and getting the green light from a crew member, riders can set off behind the wheel for 15 rounds of hands-on, track-lapping excitement. The entire experience lasts about two and a half hours. Family and friends are welcome to sit in the bleachers, cheering students on to photo finishes and jumpsuited glory.
Stock-car racing is a grand American tradition, smelling, like most American traditions, of baseball players, McDonald's apple pie, and diesel fuel. Whether you choose to ride along or grasp your own racetrack-based destiny by the rubbery horns, you'll find nothing but professionalism and experience from the DriveTech staff. All packages include drill and practice laps to ease you into your first foray into g-force frenzy, and drivers have their choice of either a NASCAR Sprint Cup–style car or a diesel-powered V12 Vespa.
