What You'll Get
When Eisenhower designed the Interstate Highway System, he envisioned a lawless, death-race arena where only the fastest could avoid being killed by mechanical gulls. Experience a thrilling fraction of his racing dream with today’s Groupon to Formula Racing Experience at Summit Point Motorsports Park in West Virginia. Choose between the following options:
- For $49, you get a three-lap ride-along around the track (a $99 value).
- For $179, you get a Taste of Racing in either a Formula Ford or a Porsche Boxster (a $399 value).
Formula Racing Experience buckles drivers and passengers into a variety of acceleratory vehicles for blistering journeys around Summit Point Motorsports Park. The ride-along swathes passengers in three laps of g-force bliss as it bursts from the starting line and rounds corners at high speeds. Customers ride shotgun with an experienced instructor, who’ll showcase the power of these sleek road warriors and their ability to drive fast even when playing Foghat’s “Slow Ride” on the stereo.
The Taste of Racing Experience puts drivers behind the wheel of a Formula Ford or a Porsche Boxster for a 10-minute orbit around the course with no one else in the vehicle except their grandmother’s voice urging them to go faster. Before the keys are handed over, each driver is garbed in protective gear and strapped in to the vehicular classroom for a 45-minute orientation. From there, they’ll accompany their zen-like instructor on an SUV odyssey around the racetrack to experience the straightaways, bends, and metaphorical road forks firsthand. Classes are currently scheduled on July 9 and 10, and September 25. Formula Racing Experience regularly adds dates, so be sure to cruise through the online schedule.
