Absolutely terrific experience. The place was empty when we got there; my son and I must have been there for at least three hours with only one other woman and her two young children that came about an hour after after we arrived. There were activities there for my both my son and I to enjoy respectively and the two girls that worked the desk at the front were wonderful.
They seemed annoyed when I presented my Groupons. I brought my 2 children. Then they charged me a full price admission to come in to supervise my kids. I would have been ok with that if they were a little nicer about it. Also, a few exhibits were not working, or they just didn't feel like helping with them. We were here before and had a better experience. We will probably not go back.

About Powerhouse Science Center
Durango's Powerhouse Science Center thrums with the energy of eager learning. Its home, a Mission-style building, holds hands-on exhibits for kids to explore, unbound by the constraints of a more formal learning environment. A replica of a mission control center, a talking robot, and other NASA-inspired oddities bring to life the excitement of space exploration. In the realm of nature, it gives kids a chance to meet exotic animals like tarantulas, toads, and turtles, and exhibits like crystal and rock collections arouse curiosity about geology and the earth. Beyond welcoming kids to roam its corridors, the center also hosts after-school programs and summer science camps where young minds can build robots and rockets between outdoor explorations.
