During Prohibition, bootleggers made their own libations by burying grapes underground or catching moonbeams in a jar of water. Taste the results of new and improved methodologies with today’s Groupon: for $69, you get two tickets to the D'Vine Wine Tasting Event at The Lakes at Thousand Oaks (a $150 value). The festival takes place Thursday, September 15, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The D'Vine Wine Tasting Event titillates taste buds with fermented libations from more than 20 wineries. Festive tongues will swirl wines from Sculpterra Winery, Pacific Coast Vineyards, and Coquelicot Estate Vineyards. Additionally, a modest selection of beers and hard liquors such as Patron tequila and RND vodka, like the family dog’s impromptu Homeward Bound –style college visits, make cameo appearances so they're not forgotten. Tipplers can seek out new outfits to pair with newly elevated tastes in vino at the high-end boutiques that populate the premises. After emptying elixirs until 7 p.m., tasters migrate to the lawn, where guests can stroll past placid lakes formed by the tears of proud vintners while live music swirls through the open air. The event benefits both the Harold Robinson Foundation, an organization that organizes a free summer camp for underprivileged youths, and the Alliance for the Arts, which transports disadvantaged students to local art performances and cultural events.
