What You'll Get
If the Indiana Jones films have taught us anything, it is that in order to have a successful teaching career, one must train one's upper body to be adept at dangling. Hone your Hollywood-learned skills with today’s Groupon: for $25, you get a five-punch card plus shoes and harness rental at Dyno-Rock in Arlington (a $60 value).
More than 16,000 square feet of indoor climbing space awaits rock clingers of all ages at Dyno-Rock, where the walls are plastered with multicolored handholds and footholds and reach higher than a stack of three Shaquille O'Neals. Cliff clutchers of all skill levels will find a wall to call their own among Dyno-Rock’s gentle slopes, imposing overhangs, and ceiling segments (for the truly talented). All first-time climbers at Dyno-Rock go through a safety class before they are loosed into the wild wall wilderness. The venue doesn't usually provide belayers, so wall walkers should consider bringing a trusted friend to pose as their rope guardian. For those who opt to show up for lone rock workouts or prefer a more natural climbing experience, the gym boasts a dedicated bouldering section with more than 2,000 square feet of climbing at less-high heights.
The staff at Dyno-Rock is highly skilled and friendly, and all equipment is kept in the best possible shape. So take this opportunity to tone your sinews, strengthen your grip, and teach your toes to pinch walls in just the right places.
