Early humans inhabited the most eco-friendly of abodes, solar-powered caves; modern man can still achieve similar sustainable coexistence. Today’s side deal shows home dwellers greener ways to build and live: for $10, you get one of four eco-friendly home–construction/remodeling classes from The Earth Advantage Institute, up to a $30 value. Take your pick from the following classes:
- What’s a Green Building? (Tuesday, April 13)
- Introduction to LEED® for Homes (Wednesday, May 19)
- Creating a Green Home: New, Addition, Remodel (Friday, October 29)
- Creating a Not So Big® Inspired Home: Rightsizing the American Dream (Saturday, October 30)
Classes take place at the institute’s national center. You can buy two Groupons to take two different classes. Some classes are Groupon exclusive, not only ensuring that the class size will be small, but also that your fellow pupils will be extremely attractive, very cool people. There are 50 spaces available for each one, so be sure to register early for your desired class.
A seasoned veteran will lead each lesson, laying out eco-friendly practices alongside tips on saving energy, choosing the right materials, and hiring the best contractors. The institute is a nonprofit resource dedicated to helping homeowners and real-estate professionals adapt their homes to better friend the ecosystem with more-energy-efficient, minimally impactful housing and living. Learning the ins and outs of greening your home will simultaneously please Mother Earth and put more paper green back into your pocket.
