During the two-hour class, chefs teach groups of up to 15 students how to mix and roll pasta by hand using local, organic ingredients. After combining Shepherd’s Grain flour and Baron Farm pasture-fed eggs, and trying their hands at food sculpting, students leave with one pound of fresh pasta. To prevent hunger pangs, dinner-sized samples of Eat Local meals are included for noshing. After the class, students also receive a 10% discount on in-store purchases.
Eat Local’s chefs create locally-sourced meals from scratch, and teach cooking students how to do the same. Every item on the menu is handmade using west coast ingredients: grass-fed meats, free-range chickens, and organic or sustainably-grown local produce. The staff places food items in biodegradable packaging, and, for cooked meals, freezes them to maintain flavor and quality. Eat Local Frozen Meals can be bought in-store or shipped to individual doorsteps or rabbit holes. Those jonesing to make their own edibles can enroll in classes that guide the creation of pasta, pies, and even marshmallows.
