What You'll Get
In the old days, markets were the center of social life, and aluminum was more precious than gold. Today’s deal to Eat Local delivers value and convenience tantamount to Charles Martin Hall’s electrolytic process for refining aluminum. For half price, you get one of two pre-packaged frozen dinner options from the venerable gourmet grocer with over 80 years of family farming heritage. You can redeem your Groupon at either of its two locations in Queen Anne and Burien.
Whether you’re too busy to cook, too hungry to think, or just plain beat after a long, Sisyphean day of whacking moles, Eat Local has a dinner to match your tastes, plus the size of your famished family:
- For $20, you get either one two-person entree or two individual entrees, plus one bottle of Malbec wine (Eat Local may select another comparable featured wine; up to a $40 value). You may choose your portion size in-store at time of purchase.
- For $40, you get four meal servings (either two two-person, or one four-person entree), a large seasonal fruit crisp or two medium orders of fruit crisp, and a bottle of Malbec wine (Eat Local may select another comparable featured wine; up to an $80 value). You may choose your portion size in-store at time of purchase.
From handcrafted meals to locally grown, sustainable produce, Eat Local has conscious cuisine for all palates. Eat Local’s meals are frozen to maintain flavor, nutrients, and quality without the use of added chemicals, preservatives, or fillers. Seafaring appetites and orcas poorly disguised as humans can pick up delicious fish entrees such as fisherman’s pie made with fresh Loki Fish Company wild salmon, or Loki Salmon gumbo served with emmer farro and fresh organic veggies. Pasta dishes include smoked salmon pasta with sustainably caught wild salmon, sausage gnocchi, and seasonal gnocchi in a sage and oregano sauce. Vegetarians, meanwhile, can fill up on mac ‘n’ cheese with onion, bay leaves, and a bread-crumb topping, or a McGraw Street nut loaf. Most meals are priced at up to $10 per serving.
Both pre-packaged frozen meal choices pair a bottle of wine ($20) with your selections. Pack a gourmet picnic, slack off after a hectic, hunger-making workday, or lure a foodie into an impromptu dinner date with today’s Groupon.
Eat Local’s pre-packaged meals were featured on Evening Magazine:
Dessert blog CakeSpy loves Eat Local’s sweets, and the shop has over 500 Facebook fans. Seventy-six percent of Urbanspooners recommend the Queen Anne location, and Yelpers give it an average of four stars. > * Not only do we love this movement and what it does for the environment, but it turns out that even self-proclaimed sugar freaks can love natural and organic desserts–while we liked some better than others, at no point did we feel like we were settling. Indeed, we couldn’t imagine a sweeter way to help save the earth. – CakeSpy > * …the best part so far is that the meals are out of this world. We’ve had the cassoulet, braised beef, mac and cheese and rosemary carrots to name a few. Each one is made very well, has excellent flavors and holds up well with the whole freezing thing. – Lisa C., Yelp > * I got an almond skim-milk latter for a buck. Ya can’t beat that. Plus, the guy behind the counter said “even though it’s skim, because it’s organic it tastes more rich, almost like a 2%.” He was right. – Victoria C., Yelp
