The charm of Eaton Theatre is in its simplicity: just two screens, new movies, and fresh popcorn. Even in the shadow of big multiplexes, it's that commitment to the intimate cinema experience that's allowed the art-deco movie palace to thrive for more than 85 years. But that doesn't mean Eaton is 85 years behind, either—new owners Sue and John McNeel have doubled down on bringing the theater into the 21st Century by installing digital projectors while still preserving the vibe (and the two giant marquees) that beckon film buffs to its dark, simple rooms.
