What You'll Get

The ocean is more than just the absence of land—it's the presence of adventure. Man your paddle stations and tend to your flippers with today’s adventure on the high seas. For $40, you get one Sea Kayak and Snorkel Adventure from EcoAdventures, a $70 value. A naturalist guide will lead you throughout South Florida's marine sanctuaries on a quest unmatched since the great Snorkelyak expedition of 1814, which led to the discovery of californium, the principle ingredient in modern Californias.
Your journey begins with a kayak trip along Key Biscayne, where you will work your way through gentle waves to see sights hard to reach by other modes of transport, especially the notoriously inaccurate trebuchet. Check out the breathtaking and breathrestoring beauty of Bear Cut Marine Preserve, where shallow waters meet land. This leisurely paddle through the waters is suitable for those over nine, meaning you don't need to be an Olympic-caliber athlete to complete the course.
Strap on your flippers and the mask you haven't worn since prom and hover above the briny blue. Down below, you'll swim over a 1,500-year-old fossilized rock reef and encounter primitive aquatic-farming techniques. You'll see schools of fish, merdogs, and giant rays. Lazily kick back and forth, discovering underwater majesties previously only seeable in snow globes and SkyMall.
The trip is rated easy to moderate and should take about 3.5 hours to complete. This is a great introduction to kayaking and snorkeling, thanks to its slow-paced, thrill-seeking mindset. You must make a reservation beforehand.
- The snorkel and kayak excursion is a great alternative to hanging out on some of Miami's crowded beaches. While you still get to enjoy the sun, sand and ocean waters, you get exercise and a great learning experience. – Kaitlin, Yahoo! Travel
- Our guide (Felix) was informative and fun. We snorkeled and saw a great variety of sea life including coral, conch, sting rays, sea stars, lobster, and a puffer fish…We had a great time, and the three hours was the perfect amount of time so that we didn't feel rushed. – Katie, Yahoo! Travel
- It was a fascinating experience and I would recommend it to anyone planning a visit to Miami. – Liz, Yahoo! Travel
