Scuba diving is the only way left to find hidden treasure, befriend a nautical skeleton, or strap a huge tank to yourself. Explore the possibilities with today's Groupon: for $49, you get a two-hour discover scuba-diving class from Eco Dive Center in Culver City (a $99 value). Classes are held every Saturday.
Eco Dive Center, winner of the Project AWARE International Environmental Achievement Award in 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010, leads echelons of underwater waders through the big ocean blue with diving courses and eco-focused trips. Finally learn the underwater-breathing skills necessary to become a reverse mermaid with the discover scuba-diving class guided by a PADI-certified breathologist. Set in shallow water, the undersea course instructs fledgling flounders in the basics of diving, including gear types, relaxing your breath, and human echolocation. All essential equipment, including mask, snorkel, fins, buoyancy compensating jacket with scuba tank, and depth and air regulator are provided. Participants are only required to bring along a personal swimsuit, towel, and fanny pack full of waterproof animal crackers.
The trained submersible instructors of Eco Dive Center work closely with each student to give personalized attention. Choose to mingle with like-minded movers or weld wrought iron family bonds—this sea assembly can accommodate anyone 10 years and older, so long as participants are in good health and have basic swimming skills.
Eco Dive Center was awarded the Project AWARE Foundation International Environmental Achievement Award in 2009 for its positive impact on the underwater environment. More than 30 Yelpers give the dive center an average of 4.5 stars and six TripAdvisors give it an average of four owl eyes.

Eco Dive Center
Eco Dive Center’s dedication to water conservation shines through in its educational programs. The dive team teaches its students not only about scuba diving, but how to properly care for and respect the underwater world. It’s much more than just a water-safety school and aquatics emporium, although it does house dive gear from renowned brands such as Bare and Oceanic in its 5,000 square-foot store. And it does, of course, certify students in both basic open-water PADI skills and more advanced specialties, such as rescue and first-response.
