About Edgewater Workbench
Community workshop Edgewater Workbench is a place where community members can work on their creative projects, both by themselves and in groups. The space contains four 3D printers to help bring ideas to life, as well as a laser cutter that can cut and etch such materials as paper, wood, fabric, and plastic. Those who need assistance with the technology can take one of Edgewater Workbench's classes. These might teach participants how to put a laser-cut design on wood or how to create a unique 3D sculpture from a computer-aided design. The 3D printing classes, available for kids or adults, cover the basics of 3D design and modeling as well as the history and current applications of the technology.
Groupon has partnered with the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce to offer this special collection from Edgewater merchants. The North Side neighborhood is home to one-of-a-kind shops such as Edgewater Workbench, where customers create custom gifts with 3D printing and laser cutting, and pioneering restaurants such as Uncommon Ground, home of the country’s first certified organic rooftop garden.
