On May 18th, 1980, Mount St. Helens erupted in what was the deadliest and most destructive volcanic event in American history. 57 people were killed and hundreds of square miles of southern Washington were buried under rock, lava and ash. This new play at Wade James Theatre in Edmonds takes place a year after the eruption and centers on a family whose adult son was lost in the disaster. Filled with frustration, compassion and humor, Man Defeats Nature is a heartfelt story about the search for closure.
