Eleni's Philoxenia & Eleni's Estiatorio
Eleni Touhouliotis came to America from the island of Crete and brought with her a Greek cookbook written by her cousin. She arrived in 1974 and started working in cafes, putting aside the money she earned in hopes of someday starting her own restaurant. She finally succeeded in 2006, when she opened the doors to Eleni's Estiatoro and introduced the world to her family recipes. Eleni received an enthusiastic response and opened a second location—Eleni's Philoxenia—a mere 18 months later.
Both of Eleni's eateries feature virtually the same menu, which combines fresh vegetables, first-press olive oil from Crete, and naturally raised, hormone-free meats into classic Greek dishes.

“For "old" (78, 79) folks like us, just the main entree is almost too much food. Next time, we'll do like the not quite so old ladies next to us did: Share the main course and add a salad at the beginning - still no room for dessert. Either way, the food was excellent! ”
“Greeter could be a little more friendly, but the food made up for it. ”
