  • Admission for one
  • Roller coaster rides
  • Fright Fest activities

Fright Fest

Fright Fest rings in Halloween with two distinct celebrations, best summed up by the festival’s own mantra: family by day, fright by night.

  • Earlier hours mean trick or treating, costume contests, and other themed events suitable for visitors of any age.
  • For an extra fee, come 6 p.m., true terror emerges from its coffin. Beneath the night sky, it takes the form of four haunted attractions: Flesh Factory, Terror Chamber 2, Séance, and Freak Show. Flesh Factory and Terror Chamber 2 may be purchased individually for $10 each or as a combo for $15 per person. The Haunted Experience, Séance may be purchased individually only, for $10 per person. The Haunted Show, Side Show: Parade of Freaks is free.

Elitch Gardens

It was 1890 when the first people arrived at Elitch Gardens, then a zoological park. Those early Denver citizens would likely be taken aback by the park's current collection of thrill rides—including one that looks like the world's largest hula hoop balanced on its side. The Brain Drain is no hula hoop, however. It's a ride towering seven stories high, with back-to-back seats that allow its riders to stare into each other's eyes as they go upside-down in high-speed revolutions.

Elsewhere in the park, there are more adrenaline rushes to be had on the tracks of wooden and suspended roller coasters. Those who enjoy a slower pace would do well to visit the ferris wheel, children's rides, and an 83-year-old carousel whose horses don't even know what email is. There's also a water park with open and enclosed slides, some of which plunge from heights of up to 75 feet.

In addition to the rides and water park, the park provides a variety of entertainment that is fun for all ages. The arcades and game stations, which include the classic ring toss and rope ladder climb, put players' skills and strategy to the test as they compete for prizes. During the summer months, guests enjoy a lineup of free concerts and family-friendly dive-in movies. The family fun doesn't stop there, as park-goers of all ages may also enjoy a multitude of dining and shopping options.

My kids enjoyed the haunted houses, they are geared toward a younger crowd like middle school/early high school. Long lines on Saturday but overall a great time
