Q:

Is there any scabbing after a laser treatment?

mary  asked on  Feb 13, 2013

A:

Thanks for the question! They would need to discuss your skin and the type of lesion in more detail to get a better idea of whether or not you would experience any scabbing. The Laser Center can be reached at (978) 686-1010, and the laser technician is in the office on Mondays, Wednesday, and Thursdays.

Q:

How much skin surface does one treatment cover? The entire face, or just one small area? How many treatment would be needed to treat both hands?

A. D.  asked on  Feb 12, 2013

A:

Each treatment will just cover one small spot. The number of treatments needed depends on the person, skin, pigmentation and size of lesion. Many are removed in as little as one treatment while others may need additional treatments.

Q:

Is this considered an IPL or is it a different type of system?

Mary-Jo R.  asked on  Feb 7, 2013

A:

We use the Alex 755 which is one of the most effective treatments for brown spots. IPL is a pulsed light treatment and may lighten the spot but usually not as effective as the 755 laser treatment. An IPL treatment or even some creams may lighten the spot and is not recommended before a laser treatment. It is best if the spot remains dark as the laser will pick up the mellanin more effectively.

Q:

Does the treatment permanently reduce the color of age spots or our routine treatments necessary? Are multiple treatments necessary depending on how dark the spots?

susan  asked on  Feb 8, 2013

A:

On average, The darker the spot the easier it is to treat. For many the spot/s are gone permanently but for some they only lighten and sometimes return. Depending on the spot sometimes one may need more than one treatment. Hope this helps!

Connie D.  asked on  Feb 7, 2013
