$20 for Admission to Circus Day at Mountain Meadows Farm ($40 Value)

The event takes place on Sunday, August 26 from noon to 5 p.m. Taking advantage of the summer weather and attendant natural beauty at Mountain Meadows Farm, the festivities include a flying-trapeze show and the opportunity for visitors to take some swings themselves. Aerial performances and a climbing wall get hearts pumping, and classic circus acts such as stilt walkers, jugglers, and clowns provide entertainment. Food and beverages and live music round out the day.

Emerald City Trapeze Arts

Onlookers gasp as the graceful figure tumbles to earth in a slow-motion plunge. Her strong legs twist and spin down a billowing swath of deep-red fabric like a spider expanding its web. It is awe rather than fear, however, that draws the crowd's gasps, as the elegant descent is performed as a demonstration by one of Emerald City Trapeze Arts’s skilled instructors during a silks class. A dedication to teaching students of all ages and abilities the skills necessary to capture both the beauty and athleticism of the circus arts is the studio's main mission, upheld by a cadre of circus-grade instructors and a friendly staff.

Below the soaring ceiling of exposed old-growth beams, students leap and balance on well-maintained circus apparatuses as their instructors correct their form and ensure their safety. The staff welcomes aerial enthusiasts to experience the sky-splitting thrills of all manner of circus specialty, from the flying trapeze to acrobalance to hatha yoga performed on the top of an elephant's stiletto. Along with high-flying classes, Emerald City Trapeze Arts’s crew celebrates the circus arts via dances and parties held within the whimsical yet rustic venue, from merriment-packed Halloween festivities to energetic performances by staff and students.

Emerald City Trapeze Arts

Once upon a time, the Canal Boiler Works building in SODO housed Seattle's blacksmiths, who spent their days harnessing the power of fire and steel. Today, the building is still around, but its tenants tap into a different kind of power. Beneath a wood-beam ceiling, the aerialists of Emerald City Trapeze Arts fly through a 20,000 square foot studio, learning classic circus and trapeze skills from instructors with decades of experience. During aerial arts classes, students engage with silks, hoops, and ropes suspended in midair, mastering artful, fluid motions while simultaneously boosting their strength and coordination. Trapeze classes take things even higher; the studio's full-sized trapeze rig towers 30 feet in the air, recreating the thrills of big-top flips for beginners and seasoned aerialists alike. The space also invites students to try their hands at several other classic apparatus, including Trampoline and Cyr Wheel.

Although the air is their natural habitat, Emerald City Trapeze Arts' instructors teach earthbound classes, as well. Tumbling classes unlock youngsters' inner acrobats with cartwheels and somersaults, while pole fitness classes introduce the tricks and transitions needed to develop a full dance routine.

They are amazing teachers, they were able to pick one or two small things to correct each time to get you to where you felt very comfortable. I feel that at any level you would leave feeling good about what you can do as well as how far you can come in one day. I really enjoyed myself and adored the instructors!!!
