Enlightenment has been sought by millions, but most of them just couldn't find the light switch. Find edible nirvana with today's Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of cafe fare plus 50% off any art or retail products at Enlighten Café & Art Gallery in Ballard.
Enlighten Café & Art Gallery serves up an assortment of victuals amidst a contemporary, artful setting. Sip an Italian soda ($2.50) or a grande latte ($3.30) and choose from a rotating selection of desserts such as raspberry decadence cake, honey trifles, and brown-butter pear tarts. Desserts are all in the $5 range with the exception of the Bluebird on Capitol Hill ice cream, which is $3 per scoop, barring a presidential veto. For stronger brews, try a Fremont Interurban IPA ($4), a bottle of Oskar Blues pale ale ($3.75), or a musical glass of Trumpeter pinot noir ($6).
Beyond providing provender, Enlighten also recovers and recycles unique wood furniture and decorative accents in order to foster sustainability and to harvest the nourishing cellulose therein. The café and gallery features furnishings and lamps crafted from old houses, farm equipment, and some on-hand timber. Meet friends, delight in a luxurious libation, and get steeped in culture at Enlighten, the cafe that underwent a Vulcan mind-meld with an art gallery.
- At least twice a week I come down to this airy coffeehouse and cafe, order a delicious green curry chicken sandwich and a bowl of hot-and-sour soup with a ginger-peach iced tea, take my laptop to one of their salvaged wood tables (free WiFi, of course), and I set up camp. – Geoff C., Yelp
- Any time I go to Ballard, I have to go to this store. Nine times out of ten it's to drool and daydream, but that one out of ten times I wind up purchasing something, it's beautiful and well-made. – Kelsey F., Yelp
